Why do people seemingly always choose to see the light and refute the dark? Does it create dissonance when ignoring the dark?
The yin and yang represents the whole of being, but why has it been appropriated to the good side or the light? Do people just ignore the dark side?

Yes, I think that people do ignore the dark side. A civilised society does not accommodate the darker aspect of our animal nature. Thanks to good ol' fashion English manners, which has spread throughout the entire world, we are taught to rationally work through our darker impulses or simply bury them in the cancer storehouse.
Due to this conditioning people have become scared to express that which is not of civilized 'taste'. i think this is a real problem as it leads to inauthentic human 'fakings' who, are fully light and dark, but must express their other half by projecting it onto those around them. When there is too much build up of this yang anxst, typically a war breaks out. Societies leaders have given us sports to try and satiate our need for violence and animal lust.
One last thought, if you want to see the dark side of our nature and how it is being expressed, just go and have a look inside a prison. Those poor fucks have to bear the weight of the yang on their forgotten and abused backs.

What does the yin mean to you in your daily life? What is its implications in the human experience and how does it manifest at the scale of the cosmos?
